What makes a great drawing??

This is the question that year 7 students have leapt into their first term of Visual Arts with.

We have begun the term exploring formal drawing elements, the ingredients that make artists drawings powerful and interesting. Learning about tone, texture, line, shape and proportion students have produced fantastic art works that they can be really proud of.

Our Tonal Creatures project has been a highlight. Drawings of strange and wonderful creatures have become 3 dimensional before our eyes as students develop their tonal shading skills.

I am excited to have become part of the fantastic team at Tawa Intermediate School and we have made a brilliant start in Visual Arts this year.

Year 7's are the first group to take Art in Term one and the learning areas that we are focusing in on are Drawing and Sculpture.

I look forward to working with all of the students throughout the year, seeing their creative talents being unleashed and their passion for the Arts develop.
